FLEMINGTON, NJ, SEPTEMBER 3, 2010- SAFE in Hunterdon is excited to announce its first-ever 5K event, a joint effort between SAFE
and the Hunterdon Central cross-country runners and booster club. The SAFE in Hunterdon Hearts and Soles 5K Race and Family Relay will
be held at Spruce Run Recreation Area in Clinton, NJ, on October 3rd. This Helping Hands, Healing Hearts event features a USATF-certified
5K road race as well as a 2-mile, family-friendly relay race, with lots of awards, prizes, giveaways, food, live music and more!

The road race is a flat and fast, out and back run that winds through the forested park, with views of the 1300-acre reservoir and changing
autumn leaves. It is sanctioned by the USATF and a reduced registration fee is available for its members. Awards will be given to top three
finishers overall, top three male and female finishers, as well top finishers in various age groups. The race will be professionally timed by
Pretzel City Sports. Registration cost is $25. The first 100 5K race registrants will receive a free pedometer courtesy of LeRoe Corporate
Gifts. T-Shirts are guaranteed to all 5K participants that sign up prior to September 15th.  Goody bags will be given to race participants at
registration.

The 2-mile, four-member team/family will run a course similar to the 5K, with each relay team member running a half-mile leg. Awards for
top finishers, as well as prizes for best team uniform or costume, best team name, most team spirit, and more! Registration for a team or
family of four is $30. Free hayride tickets donated by Schaefer Farms will be given to each team.

The team relay begins at 10 am and the 5K race starts at 11 am. An awards ceremony and post-race celebration with food, vendors, and live
music will follow. Free snacks and refreshments will be available to race participants. A 50/50 raffle and prize raffle drawings will take place
throughout the day.

SAFE in Hunterdon is pleased to have already signed Sherwin Williams, Kessler Rehabilitation Center, MSI Plumbing, ShopRite and
LocalNewsHub.com as sponsors. CHYTEN, Comic Fusion, Hawk Pointe Golf Club, Main Street Massage Therapy, Schaefer Farms and
Sphericality will have vendor tables the event. In addition, Wawa will be providing beverages for the event and Bagel Junction will be
providing bagels. Precision Sports Photography will be taking photos of the event and its participants. The classic rock band The Ones will
play throughout the celebration.

The funds raised through this event will directly support the services that SAFE provides to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual
abuse. Through a 24-hour hotline, safe and transitional houses, counseling services, legal advocacy and children’s programs, SAFE’s
dedicated staff and volunteers deliver the free, confidential services and critical support victims need to heal from abuse. In addition, SAFE
works to serve the specific needs of our young people through targeted teen programming and presentations to schools throughout the
county.
