FLEMINGTON, NJ, MARCH 22, 2010—On April 10th, 2010, SAFE in Hunterdon and V-Day Flemington will kick off two days of benefit
performances of Eve Ensler’s award-winning play The Vagina Monologues at Hunterdon Central Regional High School. The performances will
be held on April 10th, 2010, at 7 pm, and on Sunday, April 11th, at 2 pm, and all proceeds will benefit SAFE in Hunterdon and the V‑Day 2010
Campaign. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased by visiting http://www.safeinhunterdon.org/VaginaMonologues.html or at the door before
each performance.
Hailed by The New York Times as "funny" and "poignant" and by the Daily News as "intelligent" and "courageous," The Vagina Monologues,
which was first performed off-Broadway by Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in
women’s experiences. Ensler has performed the play to great acclaim throughout the world—from Zagreb to Santa Barbara, from London to
Seattle, from Jerusalem to Oklahoma City.
V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness,
raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence
against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sexual slavery.
Last year over 4,200 communities hosted V-Day benefits around the world raising funds and awareness in support of efforts to end violence
against women. These highly successful events raised over $4 million through performance of The Vagina Monologues, as well as readings
from V-Day’s A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer and Any One Of Us: Words From Prison and screenings of V-Day’s
documentary Until the Violence Stops. SAFE in Hunterdon has joined this global movement by creating V‑Day Flemington, a local effort within
the worldwide context of the 2010 V-Day Campaign. To learn more about V‑Day Flemington, call 908.788.7666 or visit the V-Day Flemington
