SAFE in Hunterdon is a not-for profit agency serving victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
MISSION STATEMENT In an atmosphere of professionalism and excellence, our mission is to:
Reduce the prevalence of intimate violence in society.
Provide safety through free and confidential services for victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault including all ages, genders, cultures, religions and sexual orientations.
Empower victims, survivors and their families to live enriched lives free from violence.
Heighten our community's awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault through risk reduction education.

Pack clothes for you and your children and a list of the
addresses and telephone numbers of relatives and close
friends who may be able to help you. Keep the suitcase in the
home of a friend or neighbor or hide it in you home where you
can get to it easily.
Have an extra set of keys to your home and car. Keep them
hidden in your suitcase.
Teach your children how to use the phone to reach the police
or fire department. 911
Collect an save evidence (such as names and addresses of
witnesses, pictures of your injuries, police and medical
reports, etc.)
Develop a code word that you can use with your children or a
friend so that they can call for help when you cannot.
Take extra cash, savings books, checkbooks, credit cards and
any other special valuables.
Take something comforting for the children, such as a favorite
toy or book.
Take legal documents such as identification, birth certificates,
social security cards, driver's license, marriage certificate,
restraining orders, documentation of car ownership,
medication, court papers, passports for yourself and children,
and other legal documents. Keep these where you can get to
them easily and quickly. You may need these items for a
number of reasons.

If you need shelter, call the hotline number above.
If you get a restraining order, make copies of the order and
take one to your local police for their files. A copy can also be
given to: children's schools, daycare centers, baby-sitters, a
nearby neighbor or relative, someone at your school or work
(such as a security guard).
Keep a copy of the restraining order with you at all times.
If you continue to live at home, change your locks, consider a
security system, install bright lights outside.
Consider caller ID at home and try to have someone at work
screen your calls, if possible.
Try to change your daily routine, i/e/, avoid stores, restaurants,
banks and other places that your partner may know to look for
you.

she may be able to read your incoming and outgoing mail. If
you believe your account is secure, make sure you choose a
password he or she will not be able to guess.
If an abuser sends you threatening or harassing email
messages, they may be printed and saved as evidence of this
abuse. Additionally, the messages may constitute a federal
offense. For more information on this issue, contact your local
United States Attorney's Office.
history / cache file: if an abuser knows how to read your
computer's history or cache file (automatically saved web
pages and graphics), he or she may be able to see
information you have viewed recently on the internet.
You can clear your history or empty your cache file in your
browser's settings.*

Pulldown Edit menu, select Preferences. Click on Navigator
on choose 'Clear History'. Click on Advanced then select
Cache. Click on "Clear Disk Cache".
On older versions of Netscape: Pulldown Options menu.
Select Network Options, Select Cache. Click on "Clear Disk
Cache".
Internet Explorer:
Pulldown View menu, select Internet Options. On General
page, under Temporary Internet Files, click on "Delete Files".
Under History click on "Clear History".
AOL:
Pulldown Members menu, select Preferences. Click on WWW
icon. Then select Advanced. Purge Cache.
