violence and sexual assault in
Hunterdon County, New Jersey.


MISSION STATEMENT
In an atmosphere of professionalism and
excellence, our mission is to:

Reduce the prevalence of intimate
violence in society.

Provide safety through free and
confidential services for victims and
survivors of domestic abuse and sexual
assault including all  ages, genders,
cultures, religions and sexual
orientations.

Empower victims, survivors and their
families to live enriched lives free from
violence.

Heighten our community's awareness of
domestic violence and sexual assault
through risk reduction education.
The only way SAFE in
Hunterdon can continue to
provide free services such as
emergency shelter,
counseling and legal
advocacy is with your help.

Volunteering
Some of the Volunteer Opportunities at SAFE in Hunterdon:


Child Care: (40 hr. training course required)

Volunteers work and play with children of various age groups.  
Provide a comforting non-threatening presence to children whose
parent must be away for court appearances, counseling
sessions, etc.  A volunteer assisting with childcare could work in
our Children's Program, Shelter or Transitional House.

Mentoring Program: (40 hr. training course required)

A volunteer will be matched with a Transitional House resident
and assist in areas such as computer skills/job skills, apartment
hunting, researching schools or simply going out to
dinner/movies/etc.

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)/Sexual Assault Response Team
(SART) (40 hr. training course required)

Volunteers work in direct client-contact during crisis situations
involving incidences of domestic violence and sexual assault.  
Necessitates working co-operatively with local police
departments and medical professionals to ensure immediate
emotional support, information, advocacy and resource referrals
to victims.

Hotline Coverage: (40 hr. training course required)

Volunteers will work with the supervision of an agency advocate
answering the 24-hour hotline.  A hotline worker needs to be an
attentive listener, empathetic and calm in emergency situations.

Office Coverage: (40 hr. training course required)

Volunteers work during normal office hours to supplement staff
coverage of the reception desk.  Volunteers will also perform
other routine administrative tasks.

Transportation: (40 hr training course required)

On-call basis t assist with transporting clients to family court for
scheduled hearings or to other scheduled appointments.

Fundraising/Holiday Drives:

Volunteers assist fundraising campaigns by soliciting donations
and organizing aspects of the various campaigns.  Volunteers
can help organize gift/donation drives within their community or
coordinate donations received at SAFE in Hunterdon during the
holidays.

Other Services:

Volunteers who have specialized skills can present a seminar to
Transitional House residents (e.g. Basic Home or Auto
Maintenance and Repairs, Deb Management/Budgeting, Job
Counseling, Etc.) or provide other services according to your
talents.

Consignment Shop:

The Consignment shop operates solely through volunteer
efforts.  Located at 30 Fulper Road in Flemington, NJ., proceeds
benefit agency programs and services.  Call (909) 788-4017 for
